It was a nice time.

To be honest it sounds a little over-dramatic but I actually won’t use Tumblr as much as I did, after they push through their strange regulations on the 17th of December. I have a Twitter (https://twitter.com/thatotakutho) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/fellowikitsuka/) where some of my followers can follow me if they want too.

If you aren’t interested in some sentimental shit then skip this.

So my blog is now almost 6 years old I think. For some it doesn’t seem like much but for me it was a lot. I gained many mutuals over these years and I appreciated every follower who shared my sick mind.

Tumblr was where I discovered nsfw-art for the first time I think and it was who made me more open-minded about basically everything. I loved laughing and crying with the community and I enjoyed the riots. Not so much did I enjoy the general drama we all know.

But after Tumblr sets in the upcoming rules and regulations it’s nothing special anymore. I can find recipes on YouTube and My favorite artists on Twitter. The platform was the special thing about it, because I always liked the format the most. Where else can we find a website that lets you have such nice blogs like we have here, with so much personality put into them.

But if we are honest it is basically useless because I’m European and if article 13 really sets in I can forget all my memes and fan arts. #saveyourinternet

I probably wont delete my blog but I will be on that so called semi-permanent hiatus.

Stay wild!

blabbering blog tumblr make tumblr great again goodbye hiatus I still love all of you

Tumblr wants to take away all adult content on the platform, abandoning a large majority of it’s userbase which uses the site for this exact matter. Please sign the above petition if you would like to keep tumblr the way it is. They need to be shown that they will lose a HUGE amount of their traffic if they’re too carry this through.

In response to the NSFW ban being enacted by Tumblr Staff, on December 17th 2018 I propose that we all log off of our Tumblr accounts for 24 hours.

The lack of respect and communication between staff and users is stark. Users have been begging staff to delete the porn bot outbreak, which has plagued the website for well over a year. The porn bots oftentimes send people asks and messages, trying to get them to go to a website full of viruses. They also spam advertisements on others posts.

Users have also begged that Tumblr ban neo-nazis, child porn, and pedophiles, all which run rampant on the site. The site/app got so bad that it was taken off the app store.

However, instead of answering the users, Tumblr has instead taken the liberty to ban all NSFW content, regardless of age. But users have already run into issues of their SFW content being marked as sensitive and being flagged as NSFW, not allowing them to share their work.

Not only does this discriminate again content creators, but it also discriminates against sex workers. Disgustingly, the ban will be enacted on December 17 which is also International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers.

This ban is disgusting, and while I (and plenty of others) welcome porn bots and child porn being banned, the Tumblr filtration system is broken. It tags artistic work’s nipples as NSFW (when it is art), it tags SFW art as NSFW (when it is not), and does not stop the porn bots, neo-nazis and dozens of other issues.

This ban is discriminatory. This ban is ineffective. This ban is unacceptable.

To protest, log off of your Tumblr account for the entirety of November 17th. Log off at 12 am EST or 9PM PST and stay off for 24 hours. Don’t post. Don’t log on. Don’t even visit the website. Don’t give them that sweet ad revenue.

Tumblr’s stock has already taken a hard hit. Let’s make it tank. Maybe then they will listen to the users.

The internet could change next week, and not in a good way

You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.

We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. There’s already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report

The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We don’t believe that technology should replace human judgment.

Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.

If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu

Please reblog this as much as you reblogged the posts about Net Neutrality.

If Article 13 is approved, European People might be basically banned from uploading any fan content.

You won’t get new fanfics from people in Europe.

You won’t get new gifs from people in Europe.

You won’t get new fanart from people in Europe.

Because they’ll be automatically filtered and blocked!

We might leave Tumblr and other fandom pages.

And if we’re getting all our content blocked?

You might lose some of your favourite followers/mutuals.

You might not get to read the rest of that fic you’re dying to read - simply because the writer lives in the wrong country.

So do whatever you can to help us stop this.

Reblog this.

The photo above is the closest humanity has ever come to creating Medusa. If you were to look at this, you would die instantly.

The image is of a reactor core lava formation in the basement of the Chernobyl nuclear plant. It’s called the Elephant’s Foot and weighs hundreds of tons, but is only a couple meters across.

Oh, and regarding the Medusa thing, this picture was taken through a mirror around the corner of the hallway. Because the wheeled camera they sent up to take pictures of it was destroyed by the radiationThe Elephant’s Foot is almost as if it is a living creature.

Friendly reminder that this blob of core material was so hot and dense, it melted/burned through three floors of the building before coming to rest in the lowest basement.

And there’s now a unique species of black mold that feeds off the gamma radiation it produces.

Is no one else seriously freaked out by that mold? No? Just me, then?

wiki article about the mold

LOVE that mold!

okay but

Article 13 is going into it’s final stages of voting.

If this gets through, it will allow many, many companies to abuse and misuse this article to take down as many memes, fan works, and even other independent creators on sites like YouTube, Facebook, and other websites INCLUDING Tumblr.

THE FAIR USE LAW AND SAFEHARBOR LAW WILL NO LONGER APPLY IN THE U.S OR IN OTHER COUNTRIES.

IT HAS ALREADY PASSED IN SEVERAL OTHER COUNTRIES.

WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE AWAY WHAT WE BUILT FOR THE INTERNET SO FAR.

So here is what you need to do to drag this article down.

1. Spread the word

I can’t stress this enough. The more attention this gets the more people we can get to take this down.

2. Make your own content

Make your own content on the matter and make sure it is clear to others that Article 13 is bad for every internet user involved.

3. If you live anywhere in Europe, contact your MEPs

Ask them if they approve of the article and why. If they do approve of it, try to convince them in a clear, reasonable, and most sensible way possible that this law is BAD.

The article itself is way to vague about what it’s conveying to its people.

Saying that as long as the use of said internet memes or content is good as long as it’s in “good faith.”

We cannot let some shoddy government tell us what we can and cannot post.

FREE SPEECH IS A HUMAN RIGHT. NOT A PRIVILEGE.

Here’s a video on Article 13 that Film Theory made on the matter. It will explain things better than I can.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GbXHrj8k7dg

THE VIDEO LINKED IS FROM YESTERDAY (24/11 2018) THIS IS ALL FRESH PLEASE SPREAD!

To my fellow ‘mericans that don’t understand Article 13 and why it’s important, watch the video. MatPat breaks is down in a very easy way to understand why it’s important and why it will affect all of us. You might think “naw, I’m not in the EU, doesn’t matter to me” (which is a crappy way of looking at it in the first place) but guess what, it will.

Also, I feel like people are pushing the importance of this to memes, but honestly it goes SO well beyond that.
